70+ FILM FESTIVAL WINS AND ACCOLADES FOR NEW DOCUSERIES GIVING LIFEAND CONTEXT TO A CENTURY OF CANCER RESEARCH

(JULY, 2023–Seattle, WA)– Maggie Jones and Brad Jones’ ground-breaking docuseries CANCER/EVOLUTION is winning all over the world, with its meteoric streak of accolades and film festival awards now stretching past 70.

The docuseries is a fascinating examination of the historical development of cancer research since the 1920s. Episode 1 particularly focuses on the now long accepted Warburg Effect, which explains that tumors consume tremendous amounts of glucose relative to most non-cancerous cells. This metabolic theory of cancer was first discovered by Nobel prize-winning German scientist/ physiologist/ medical doctor, Otto Warburg. CANCER/EVOLUTION carries through from the beginnings onto current developments, while also capturing inspiring tales from cancer patients who have defied their individual prognoses by combining conventional treatment with metabolic therapies.

Diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that metastasized to the brain and other organs the week she turned 40, Maggie Jones was told she had only months to live, and palliative treatment in chemotherapy and radiation would not provide a cure. During her course of hemotherapy, she researched the metabolic theory of cancer and deployed metabolic therapies like therapeutic diet, fasting and off-label drugs that target the deranged metabolism of cancer cells.

One year later, her scans revealed her cancer to be undetectable. Maggie’s success inspired her to find other cancer survivors and tell their story while also interviewing the world’s leading cancer researchers about the biological mechanisms at work.

The overwhelming response to CANCER/EVOLUTION on the film festival circuit is largely due to the expert journalistic style and production of the film, that teaches the average viewer the complicated biological principles of cancer pathology as well as the inspirational stories of survivors who have defied a medical death sentence.

“We are humbled and grateful for the incredible recognition our series has received,” said Maggie Jones, who is not only a stage 4 cancer thriver, but also a certified holistic nutritionist. “These film festival wins validate the impact of our series in inspiring hope and showcasing the power of the metabolic approach to cancer treatment.

World renowned researchers Thomas Seyfried, Jason Fung, and Adrienne Scheck are among the well-known medical experts who are interviewed for CANCER/EVOLUTION and whose research informed Maggie’s diet and recipe suggestions. These doctors’ backing strengthens the already powerful case for a renewed look at using a metabolic strategy in the treatment of cancer. Although
the CANCER/EVOLUTION series covers a wide range of subjects, it specifically focuses on the “why” and science of metabolic theory.

The world premiere of the documentary will be at the CANCER/EVOLUTION Summit in September, where those beginning their cancer journey, their supporters, cancer thrivers and medical professionals are invited to convene with thought leaders, oncologists, and other medical experts who will give presentations and answer questions. This event will bring all these communities together to examine, in great detail, the research and developments shown in the docuseries.
