Dr. Paul Davies is an internationally acclaimed physicist, cosmologist, and astrobiologist. He runs the pioneering Beyond Center for Fundamental Concepts in Science at Arizona State University and is the author of more than twenty books, including The Mind of God, About Time, How to Build a Time Machine, The Goldilocks Enigma, and his latest, What’s Eating the Universe?
In addition to running the Beyond Center, Davies chairs the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Post-Detection Taskgroup. The asteroid 1992OG was officially renamed Pauldavies in his honor.
Davies is affiliated with the Institute for Quantum Studies in Chapman University in California. He previously held academic appointments in the University of Cambridge, University College London, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, University of Adelaide and Macquarie University.
Among many scientific awards, Davies has been recognized in Australia by an Advance Australia Award and two Eureka Prizes, in the UK by the 2001 Kelvin Medal and Prize by the Institute of Physics and the 2002 Faraday Prize by The Royal Society. He is also the recipient of the 1995 Templeton Prize.
